Slovo Privacy Policy
In short
Slovo collects no data about you. Recordings, transcripts, summaries and profiles are stored only on your Mac and are never sent anywhere. The app has no servers, accounts, analytics, ads or trackers.
What happens on your Mac
- Speech recognition and summaries are done by neural networks right on your Mac. Audio and text never leave the computer.
- The microphone is used only when you start a recording yourself. You can grant or revoke access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Transcripts are saved as files next to the recording or in a folder you choose.
- App data — the transcript list, profiles, profile photos and downloaded models — lives in
~/Library/Application Support/com.pogosian.transcribe. You can delete it anytime from the Privacy and Security window or manually.
When the app goes online
- Downloading models. Only when you choose to, and only from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) over a secure connection. Like any website, Hugging Face sees your IP address and request details; that data is covered by Hugging Face's privacy policy. The request contains nothing about you, your recordings or your texts.
- Update checks. Once a day, unless turned off in Settings, the app fetches the latest version number from the Slovo website (iamartempn.github.io, GitHub Pages). The request contains only the installed Slovo version; like any website, GitHub sees your IP address. Without internet, the check simply doesn't happen.
- The "Go to Payment" button opens a payment service page in your browser. The app sends it no data; the payment terms are set by the service.
The app makes no other network requests. It needs no internet to work: once the models are downloaded, it works fully offline.
Website
The Slovo website is hosted on GitHub Pages, and the installer is published in GitHub Releases. The website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party trackers. GitHub may keep technical access logs, including IP addresses, under its own privacy policy.
Personal data
The developer does not receive, store or process your personal data. If your recordings contain information about other people, it stays on your Mac under your control — make sure you record and keep it lawfully.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on the app's website before the release it applies to.
